Program Schedule

Guests are always welcome to these informative programs. Just show up at the Gloria McClellan Senior Center, 1400 Vale Terrace in Vista CA. Lunch is at noon, programs follow a short business meeting and usually start at approximately 1:30pm

Completed programs will be moved to the bottom of the list so they will always be visible. The list will start with upcoming programs in date order

After June 5, 2009 until the next years programs and workshops are scheduled the information here will be out of date. As soon as it is available the new schedule will be entered.

There will be a special surprise program with all members participating.

09/05/2008 Join The trend to California Natives and drought tolerant plants,

Valerie Phillips from Las Pilitas Native Plant Nursery will give a presentation about drought

tolerant California native plants and California natives for year round color. A selection of

these plants will be available for purchase.

10/03/2008 New Rose Winners for 2009

Jane Diliberto, an ARS consulting rosarian and judge at the rose test garden in Carlsbad

will present the New Roses for 2009. What roses grow best in this area? Jane has over

400 roses in her garden and has been a member of the American Rose Society for 14 years

and the local Rose Society for 12.

Sue Bates from Bates Nut Farm will give a talk about nuts, plants and decorating for the holidays.

Learn the ins and outs of the upcoming Flower Show. Both old and new members

can benefit from the presentation and make this annual event even better than last year.

01/02/2009 Care and Propagation of African Violets

Barbara Conrad, Vice President of the Carlsbad chapter of the African Violet Society

will give a presentation on how to care for and propagate African Violets. She will bring

sample plants for illustration.

02/06/2000 How to Create a Bonsai Plant

Marilyn Stevenson from the San Diego Bonsai Society will demonstrate how to create a

bonsai plant and give a presentation on the new Bonsai House at the San Diego Wild Animal Park.

03/06/2009 The Wonderful World of Proteas

Gwen Tubach from Silvemink Protea Farm in Valley Center will show off some

of the most intriguing plants of the Protea famiiy as well as their related Australian Natives.
